This programme is available to unemployed disabled adults from the North East of England.

It is a flexible programme to help you prepare for work after a long period of unemployment
caused by illness, injury, or disability. However, it is also available to disabled people in
employment who are at risk of losing their jobs.

The programme is delivered with an employer in your home area and the main aims of the programme are to:
  • develop the self-confidence,
  • find out what skills you have,
  • and, find out whether you're ready to work.
  • build up the amount of time you feel able to work,
  • find out what work you're good at,
It can last hours or a number of weeks, depending on your personal need and barriers to employment. The usual length is six weeks but it can last up to 13 weeks.
Additional support will be provided within this framework to address specific disability-related issues, i.e. Mental Health,
Specific Learning Difficulties or Cognitive Difficulties.

To qualify for Work Preparation, you can be employed, unemployed, or on any benefit.
