Finchale Training College was present again with their garden entitled A Load of Old Rubbish. They managed to emulate last years success by, yet again, achieving a Gold Medal and being awarded Best in Show. The garden was designed as a modern, compact, low maintenance, garden suitable for a young family interested in the environment. The name of the garden indicates the basic premise of the garden, that of recycling. Most of the materials in the garden are recycled from plots and projects in the College. All the planking is recovered timber from an old Portakabin and the tiling is from a previous garden we exhibited at Gateshead. All the plants are perennials and most can be propagated from cuttings which reinforces the recycling theme.
