EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The aim of this course is to give you the required skills to gain employment in the electrical industries, you learn the technical and practical skills needed to provide support in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems and equipment

This course is intended to help you prepare and progress to employment of more than 16 hrs per week in a wide variety of jobs that are constantly being advertised for the Local Employment Partnerships

On successful completion of this course you will have the necessary skills to find employment as a Support Technician, installing and testing electrical systems and equipment. Work is available in Schools, Further and Higher Education, Health, Social Services and the Public Sector in General. Many large private employers require Technicians with these skills and self-employment is also an option.
Salary: Currently J.I.B Rate is £18 - 19,000

THE COURSE
The programme will provide both the theory and practical skills to provide support to a wide range of employers and customers in a variety of environments contents include

        made in the regulations.
  • 2  Statutory regulations and associated
        memoranda.
  • 3  Time/current characteristics of
        overcurrent protective devices and
        rcds.
  • 4  Current-carrying capacity and volt
        drop for cables and flexible cords.
  • 5  Classification of external influences.
  • 6  Model forms for certification and
        reporting.
  • 7  Harmonized cable core colours.
  • 8  Current-carrying capacity and voltage
        drop for busbar trunking and
        powertrack systems.
  • 9  Definitions-multiple source,d.c.and
        other systems.
     
  • 10  Protection of conductors in parallel
          against overcurrent.
  • 11  Effect of harmonic currents on
          balanced three-phase systems.
  • 12  Voltage drop in consumers
          installations.
  • 13  Methods for measuring the insulation
          resistance/impedance of floors
          and walls to Earth or to the protective
          conductor system.
  • 14  Measurement of earth fault loop
          impedanc: consideration of the
          increase of the resistance of
          conductors with increase of
          temperature.
  • 15  Ring and radial final circuit
          arrangements, Regulation 433.1
As well as the theoretical elements there will be Practical projects to developed your skills in domestic wiring and testing.

QUALIFICATION(S)
  • City & Guilds 2382-100: BS 7671:
    2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations (IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition).
