EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The aim of this course is to provide you with traditional & modern practical joinery skills as used in the construction and allied industries.

This course is intended to help you prepare and progress to employment of more than 16 hrs per week in a wide variety of jobs that are constantly being advertised for the Local Employment Partnerships

On successful completion of this course you will have the necessary skills to apply for vacancies in many areas of industry, including site carpentry, kitchen fitting and all woodwork constructions such as window fitting and manufacturing.

THE COURSE
The Programme offers you the opportunity to achieve a Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery or a Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry, where a wide range of construction and maintenance skills are available:

    Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery
    (Level I)
  • Load and unload resources
  • Contribute to maintaining work relationships
  • Contribute to erecting and dismantling working platforms
  • Set up and use portable power tools
  • Maintain and use woodworking hand tools
  • Form basic woodworking joints

    Diploma in Site Carpentry
    (Level II)
  • Store resources ready for use
  • Erect and dismantle working platforms
  • Contribute to efficient working practices
  • Set up and use portable power tools
  • First and second fix
  • Using a table saw
     
     

To enhance your employment prospects, the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (C.S.C.S) Health and Safety Test is integral to the course.

Continuous assessment of both practical and theoretical work will take place throughout training

COURSE LENGTH
The length of the course is flexible - up to a total of 42 weeks, which includes a period of work experience up to 10 weeks and 16.5 days holiday.

    and to attend a pre-entry interview at the College in which we will discuss your:
    • Motivation.
    • Whether your work expectations are realistic in relation to actual job vacancies, salary level/benefit implications, travel-to-work and disability.
    You must also be disabled and unemployed.
