IT Technician Training
This programme joins together the College's existing provision of CT and CCNA training. It is intended to prepare trainees for employment of more than 16 hrs per week as IT Field Engineers or IT Help Desk Technicians. Self-employment may also be an option in some cases.

The course is customised to meet individual ability and employment opportunities in a trainee's travel-to-work area. The focus of the training and the qualifications that will form part of that training will be determined by the requirements of recruiting employers and will be chosen after assessment by the College from the following:

Learn the functions of hardware and software, assemble and install operating systems and software applications
Learn the functions of hardware and software including Identification of major desktop components and interfaces
Enhance you career prospects by learning the fundamental principles of networking
Through these courses you can unlock your unlimited potential and engage in sustained employment with leading employers.

The course is centred on the employability skills of attitude, social skills and communication that will enable trainees to compete successfully against those candidates with higher qualifications.

The length of the course will be dependent upon realistic job entry for an individual trainee and could last between
Six (6) - Thirty (30) weeks. Trainees will be matched to employers early in their programmes, and individual employers need will determine the content of a trainee's programmes.

Weekly job search forms an important part of the course, and all trainees are expected to be active in their search for employment. For those trainees who progress to employment before they have completed a full qualification, the College will negotiate with the employer and employee to complete the qualification free of charge. Similarly, the College will provide additional training for employers of Finchale trainees.
